Rufina

Here is a picture of the tomb of a young girl named Rufina who was buried alive in Recoleta Cemetery. Doctors think now that she was in a coma when she was buried. A few days after her burial, workers heard screams coming from her tomb and when they opened it, there were scratches on her face and the inside of the coffin, but it was too late. A year later, her mother had a fancy marble tomb built for her and this statue is on the outside. Notice how her hand is on the door of the tomb. There is also a glass window so that people can see if she comes back to life again.
